My name is Reza (Mohammadreza) Ayromlou (Persian: محمدرضا آیرملو), and I am the Argelander Fellow at the University of Bonn. Before this, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Astronomy of Heidelberg University, and completed a short bridging postdoc at the Max-Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA), following the completion of my PhD. I received my PhD in March 2021 from the MPA and Ludwig Maximilians Universität München, where I worked with Guinevere Kauffmann and Simon White. Currently, my work focuses on the formation and evolution of galaxies and large-scale structure of the Universe.
I describe my research as the convergence of theory, computation, and observation overlap. In practice, I make a theoretical prediction or devise a method, implement it in a cosmological simulation or a semi-analytical model, and then compare the results with observations.
In my research, I view observations as insights for future theories. My work involves exploring the connections between the formation and evolution of galaxies (e.g. environmental effects, feedback processes) and large-scale structure cosmology. I strive to understand the interplay between different physical processes and their impact on the formation and evolution of galaxies across various environments.
I was born in Tehran, the capital of Iran (Persia), and currently live in Bonn with my wife. I speak Persian, English, and a bit of German. My hobbies include singing Persian and English songs, playing classic and Persian piano, and engaging in sports like football (soccer), basketball, and ping-pong. In my free time, I enjoy reading books, watching TV series, and playing card games.
